ChaBooCha Jr. happens every March! It's a fun, seat-of-your-pants writing event where the challenge is to complete an entire children's novel in just 30 days. For all of March, you get to write and create while letting your inner editor rest.
The goal is to write an early reader, chapter book, middle grade book or YA novel, from beginning to end, within the 30 days of the challenge. There are prizes to be won, blog posts to help you learn what you need to know and motivate you to keep going and much more to help you along your writing journey.

That means participants begin writing March 1st and finish by midnight, March 30th. The word-count goal depends on what type of novel you are writing and for what age group your novel is aimed at. If you are writing a chapter book, you will have a lower word count goal to aim for than if you are writing a middle grade novel or YA novel.
In 2014, over 200 adults participated through the Chapter Book Challenge's main site, but in 2015, we are opening up the ChaBooCha Jr. site officially for the under-17s for the first time.
